Entered the Holy Cross wilderness area. Christine is having some foot issues but still trucking along fast. The bottoms are sore from long hard miles with a heavy pack. Svea the dog is doing well. 18 mile day but where we ended up was a beautiful alpine lake surrounded by mountains. Probably a dozen tents up there and breathtaking. Both Christine and I jumped in. Cold, but a bath is a bath. Mosquito invasion drove everyone in.
Most nights everyone is in and sleeping by 8. The schedule is grueling. Schedule is the right word, which is sad. You make some food and water stops and take in moments of rare beauty but you have to keep moving. The pace is not normal either, it’s a march. You could go slower but it would be hard to make good camp sites and would take you forever to complete. Everyone is hustling. You are going as fast as you can, up down or flat.
I changed my tactic for the hash steep climbs and am going very slow. Takes awhile to climb a mile or two at turtle speed but it is helping me a lot. Mile 150.7. One of the most beautiful places I have been. Just look at this tent spot.
Beautiful! Keep trucking! ❤️🏃
150 miles! You’re our rockstar Scott. Keep trucking!
