Cracked 200 miles today. Wow. It is amazing how much country you can cover in a day. I was looking down at Buena Vista from one direction in the morning and looking back at it in the evening. It is fun being high up.
People on the trail are so friendly and introduce themselves with genuine interest in you and how it is going. Lately I am not seeing many folks but most I see, I know. Snack box, Lefty, Tom, One n Done, Naked Baccon, 5 Star, Skinny Dip, and I am No Pack.
I saw a mule deer, snake, and another big Rabbit today. I expected to see way more wildlife but nada. Harsh winters and terrain really limit things.
Mornings are awesome and I hit trail by about 6 each morning. Woods are quiet, sun filtering through, and unknown visions ahead. This morning was great, even with a huge climb to start. Nothing compared to the late afternoon climb. So steep for 2 miles I swear I could see the bottoms of my own shoes each step. I was ready, and willing, and positive about the section but I must admit some curse words were represented, none actually out loud though so that’s a win. Camped with Robin and Barbara who were whooped by the climb as well. Probably not nice but I did take some solace in their pain as they are hiking beasts. We camped by a beaver pond and crick again and as usual, lights out by 8:00. Good night.

Gorgeous scenery Scott. I enjoy your daily trail descriptions and pics. It’s like I’m there without the fatigue and blisters! Take care of those feet at night, they’re the only ones you got. Stay strong and enjoy the rest of the adventure!
The last picture is prime habitat! It isn’t fair that you didn’t see a critter of some sort there. 🙂
