This day blew me away. At one point I said that what I have seen in the last 2 hours has made this whole trip worth while. It is amazing how much country you can cover and sights you can see in one day. I have made a big leap in my ability level in pace, breathing, and comfort in going up hill. Comfort is not the right word because it does not exist here but. …. The day started hiking up a long 16 mile valley working toward the top, San Luis pass. The top was wild, rough, high, windy, and breathtakingly beautiful in every direction. This is what I came for. It was even better because as it turned out I was on top with the tramly, Cal, Rylie, Robin, and Barbara. The place is stunning.
Then you come down and across large bowls and go over another pass and another stunning place. I did even one more pass, with view, to set up getting to Ric and Ruby earlier on Sat. That cost me and I had to set up camp in the rain for the second night in a row. You set the tent, throw your full wet pack in and crawl in wet yourself.
