Day 3

Day 3

Saw a huge bear 2 miles from camp. The best kind, 100 yards down slope, paying me no mind. Make a circle with your arms and that was the size of its head. Day was all up. 7364 to 10600’. I know hearing about “elevation” is boring but at this point IT IS SERIOUS for me. Had to do 1300’ in 2 miles. Took me 2 1/2 hours. No way 2 miles could be so far. First time over 10K and first time I had to stop to breathe.

49.4 miles down! Camped at 10,200’ with the same group who get together every night. I do my best to be the first one out in the morning and the last one in at night so I can keep track of everyone. Read, slower than all.

There’s a lot of God in the wilderness.

That bear better be careful! If you start getting hungry you might just run it down!
